Biography
Sofia Gutman is an animation and film director from Jerusalem. In 2014 she graduated with honors from the 'Screen Based Arts department' at Bezalel Academy of art and design, where she directed Rehovot, who won the SNUNIT award (סנונית). During an exchange she studied at : ENSAD Paris.
Sofia's award winning film AUTUMN \סתיו was exhibited in numerous festivals worldwide, including Solidarity, T.A human rights film festival and Festival du film social, Nice.
Her film NIGHT TRAIN\רכבת לילה won an award in Go Debut european film festival. Her new animated documentary LOST VILLAGES\כפרים אבודים has participated in the residency La maison des auteurs, la cité de BD, Angoulême.
As a story board artist Sofia worked on the series 'L'arbre à Palimpseste', directed by Ingrid agbo, on '123 viva l'Algerie!' (feature animated documentry) and several short films.
Her scenario won the plume the crystal prize in Valence festival des scénaristes and development grants in both France and Israel. Sofia is a member of the Israeli writers guild.
As a storyteller Sofia is inspired by script writing and creating new visual worlds with social conflicts.
